INTRODUCTION TO BOTANICAL PAINTING IN WATERCOLOUR WITH JOANNA CHARLOTTE – 19th May 2025
Following on from the introductory courses we have hosted over the last two years with Joanna, this intermediate course will focus on drawing flowers from life.
Some drawing and painting experience is advised to get the most out of the day, however Joanna will be on hand to go through the watercolour techniques of applying the paint such as wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, damp brush and dry brush. Joanna will show you how to layer these brush techniques to create a full colour rendering.
Once you have practiced these techniques, you will have a choice of beautiful flowers to paint from life and create your own botanical illustration. Joanna will be on hand to guide you as you use your newly learnt skills to paint your botanical artwork.
You will leave at the end of the session with a framed artwork ready to hang on your wall at home.
Starting at 10am and finishing around 3:30pm, the course costs £140 to include materials, a light lunch and refreshments.
No previous experience required.
Should you need a place to rest your head, for a very special experience, enjoy a night or three at The Bell in Ticehurst. If you would like to bring a partner who doesn’t want to do a course, there are plenty of great things to do locally – a perfect staycation to explore the delights of the Kent/Sussex countryside or our favourite arty places locally. Accommodation is subject to availability so please BOOK DIRECT with The Bell - by calling 01580 200300 or booking on their website. Please let them know you are attending a course.
